Carrie

Carrie - Stephen King "I recently rewatched the Brian Depalma movie but then realized I had never read the book. I must say the movie, as is usually the case with King, falls short of the book. I hear the new movie comes closer, but we'll have to wait and see.
Great read, great first effort from the man who would be King."

I, Robot

I, Robot - Isaac Asimov "I've started reading my Asimov collection in chronological order and I just finished I, Robot. It's amazing how well it held up for me. He was my favorite when I was a kid. Of course that was before smartphones and 3-D printers. Asimov wasn't great at predicting how computers would evolve and in the stories in this collection he talks about four Positronic ""brains"" making all major decisions for the entire planet. A quaint concept these days, but I found the nostalgia value of these stories makes it easy for me to overlook his lack of technological foresight. If you have only read the foundation stories I would recommend I, Robot. Speaking of Foundation, I'm starting it tonight.

H.P. Lovecraft: Nightmare Countries: The Master of Cosmic Horror - S.T. Joshi "Short biography of the master of weird, including photos and reproductions of original hand-written pages.

H.P. never knew the influence he would exert over the horror genre. Never able to break out of the early pulps, Lovecraft struggled to survive on as little as $15 a week, A sad man in many ways, he displayed moments of enduring brilliance.

A must read for any fan of weird literature and early horror.

Full Dark, No Stars

Full Dark, No Stars - Stephen King "Dark Dark Dark.

This is not the old Steven, the Steven who let you fill in the details. No, he paints detailed, horrific and all too real visions of the darkest side of humanity. Not for the squeamish!"
